A Week In My Shoes

I wanted to start to include more personal posts on my blog. There never going to be rally personal, just more about what I have been up to during the week. I probably should post these posts on a Sunday at the end of the week but I am breaking the mold and doing it on a Tuesday instead.

This past week has been quite nice, I finished my exams last Tuesday so this week it has been all about me enjoying myself and not having to do any revision!

Tuesday: Finished my exams :) wooooooo!! Was sad to know that it was my time at sixth form over but was such a great feeling to know that all my revision was done.

Wednesday: My lovely boyfriend took me out for a meal to celebrate the end of my exams! We went to wetherspoons and I got my usual Italian burger without the pesto! I recommend it, its so good.

Thursday: As it was my dad's birthday on Friday, I spent Thursday going through a box of photos to use for his present. It was so nice looking through picture of when I was little. Crazy to think I am an adult now.

Friday: I made my dad's chocolate button birthday cake and it was really good. Nothing worse then cake to spoil your diet though.

Saturday: I had a really nice shift at work where we dressed up for charity. Nothing better then a bit of the 1950's to liven up a shift. I then spent Saturday night with my girlies and we had a late night bbq. I rocked my uggs and fluffy socks, something I hadn't worn for months, I was super cozy and we had a great night.

There hasn't been much else to talk about in the last couple of days of the week. Sunday I did my shift as usual and then Monday and Today I have been at a summer work placement. The great thing about being on summer break is that I get to shop whenever I want . So I will have a haul of all the things, fashion and beauty, that I have bought over the past week up sometime in the next couple of days.

MUA Lip Liners Review

I don't really use lip liners very often but after watching a makeup tutorials, during which the makeup artist said that using a lip liner helps make your lipstick last longer, I thought that I would give them a try. As I don't plan on using them that often, only when I'm going out and need my lipstick to stay on for that bit longer.

I have decided to test different lip liners out, starting with some that are on the lower end of the price scale and working my way up. So to start off with I bought two of the MUA lip liners thats are only £1 each. There isn't a huge range of colour choice with the MUA lip liners as they only currently do 4 different shades. I picked up a red one and a pink one.

Pink Me Up

Red Drama
The packaging of the products is good, especially as they only cost £1. The colour of the pencil matches the colour of the product when used and I find that so many products these days don't actually do that. The lip liner comes with a handy sharpener built into the lid so you don't have to worry about carrying one separate and I found that it did a good job of sharpening the product.

The colours I picked up were Red Drama and Pink Me Up. I am really impressed with the pigmentation of the lip liners and they apply smoothly onto the lips. The only downside to the product is that I found that they did smudge easily. However that didn't bother me to much as I was putting lipstick over the top anyway.

I bought these lip liners to go underneath my lipstick to make it last longer and I feel that they do that job well. For only £1 I will definitely be repurchasing and I hope that MUA bring out more shades in the future.

Have you tried the MUA Lip Liners?
Have you got a favourite Lip Liner that you think I should try out?

MUA Undress Me Too Eye Palette

As much as I would love to have the money to buy high end beauty products all the time, as a student that's just not possible. So that means that I am always on the look out for dupes of high end products.  When I was in Superdrug a couple of months ago I came across the MUA Undress Me Too Eye Palette. There are so many similarities between it and the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette and for a fraction of the price. You can pick this palette up for £4 from Superdrug stores or from online here

The palette is a mixture of matte and shimmer neutral shades. This palette would be perfect as a starter palette as there is so much you can use it for. I not only use it for smokey eyes but I also use it to fill in my eyebrows. You can use this palette to create any natural look, which would be suitable for any skin type. I love using Lavish to fill in my eyebrows and Naked is a great base colour. Even if I am not putting eye shadow on I always use Naked as it helps hold any gel liner I am using in place. Shy is a perfect highlighter tone which can be used in the inner corner or on the brow bone.

The Palette is well packaged. The white packaging with the silver writing makes it seem more expensive then it is. The only problem I have with the packaging colour is that it does get quite dirty, especially the see through cover on the top. There is also a good diagram with the names of the shadows on the back, this is really helpful. There is also a mini master class, I haven't really used this as I feel that they can sometimes be really confusing, however it could be helpful for anyone who hasn't really used makeup before.

Top Row Left to Right: Naked, Devotion, Shy, Fiery, Lavish, Dreamy
Bottom Row Left to Right: Tranquil, Exposed, Reveal, Wink, Obsessed, Corrupt
Have you tried this palette?
Do you think it is an affordable dupe for the Urban Decay Naked Palette?

My New Skincare Routine

So the past month I have really started to stick to a skincare routine. In the past I haven't really had any sort of routine and instead used skincare products when I had spots. I was just using makeup remover wipes to take off any makeup but wasn't actually cleansing my face. After watching a pixiwoo video all about skincare, I realised that what I was doing was actually really bad for my skin.

So I went on a shopping trip and picked up lots of different products and then after using them decided which ones worked best for me. I now have 4 products which I use morning and night and I have really noticed a difference in my skin. It has made me way more confident about wearing less makeup, especially as its been quite sunny the past couple days so I haven't been wearing a full coverage foundation.

1. Garnier Skin Naturals Anti-blackhead Deep Pore Wash: I don't usually like using products that feel harsh on my skin but as this product said that it 'unclogs pores' I felt that as I clog my pores up everyday with makeup I needed to buy something that was going to clear my pores. I have heard great review about Garnier products so I decided to ignore the fact that it may feel harsh on my skin and go ahead and buy it. I am so glad I bought it. Although it does feel rough when you massage it onto your skin, you can feel that it is working. I don't use this product everyday as I have found that using it every couple of days works best for me but still means that I can see a difference in the appearance of my skin.

2. Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Daily Scrub: I had read loads of blog posts reviewing this product and all the ones that I read seemed to love it. My skin feels so nice after having used it for the past month. It is a scrub but I find that it isn't harsh on your skin, which some scrubs can be. It also smell so good, it isn't an overpowering smell but it definitely leaves your skin smelling of pink grapefruit. I use this morning and night everyday and I would 100% agree with that fact that is 'helps eliminate spots and blemishes'. Since using it I have noticed a huge difference in the amount of spots I get and even when I have a few, after using it they go so much quicker then in the past.

3. Nivea Daily Essentials 2 in 1 Cleanser and Toner: I did a small review on this product in my Colours of the Rainbow TAG which you can read here. It is a great product and the fact that it is a cleanser and toner in one product, save so much time. Sorry for it being so short but if you want to read my review on it then click on the link above.

4. Nivea Daily Essentials Rich Moisturising Day Cream for Dry and Sensitive Skin: After trying the 2 in 1 Cleanser and Toner, I went back and picked up so more of the Nivea Daily Essentials products. This moisturiser is perfect for for people with dry and sensitive skin. It leaves my skin leaving feeling super soft and also leaves a good base to apply my makeup onto.

So those are the 4 skincare products that I am loving at the moment. Here is the pixiwoo video that I mentioned at the beginning of the post and I recommend that you check it out.

Have you tried any of these products?
Do you have any skincare products that you are loving at the moment?

Colours of the Rainbow Tag

So this tag has been floating around in the you tube and blogging world for a while now. I have loved seeing what people have included in their tags, so thought I would give it a go myself.  I thought it would be easy to pick products for the 8 colours - Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet and Pink- but I found it so hard as I love so many products that are these colours. Also for those of you who might be sat there going 'pink isn't in the rainbow', I know but I didn't think I could do this tag without including it.

Red- MUA Lipstick in Shade 13: When I bought this lipstick I was expecting it to be rubbish. I was running late and needed a cheap red lipstick and saw this one for £1 in Superdrug. As I was only planning on using it once I wasn't too bothered if it was good or not. However I was pleasantly surprised when I used it. It is a really nice Red-Orange colour, which is a perfect summery tone. I have been using it non-stop and It has become my go to red lipstick. Not bad for £1.

Orange- Rimmel London Wake Me Up Foundation: I love this foundation! It gives great coverage and I find that is does make me look more awake, as it is advertised to do. It is great for those days when I don't want to wear large amounts of makeup but still want to look presentable.

Yellow #1 - Garnier Summer Body Moisturising Lotion Sun-Kissed Look:  I have always really liked this product, I have never found it to go streaky or too orange. I love how it gradually builds up a natural looking tan, which isn't too heavy. The only thing that I don't like about this product is that it does have that fake tan smell, so make sure that spray some sort of nice smelling body mist before you go out. I use a soap and glory one which I really like.

Yellow #2- Barry M Nail Varnish in the colour Lemon Ice Cream: This is the perfect summer colour and the name makes me think of the summer. I love Barry M nail varnishes and this is one of my favourite ones I own. It applys so well and lasts for ages. Its the perfect way to brighten any outfit up.

Green- Vaseline: I get such bad dry lips and I find that putting this on before I go to bed and before I apply makeup in the morning really helps to stop them from being too dry. I know it is a boring beauty product but it is one that I couldn't live without.

Blue- Nivea Daily Essentials 2 in 1 Cleanser and Toner: This is probably the best beauty invention ever! A cleanser and toner in one product. I hate spending time cleaning my face and the shorter the time I have to spend doing it the better. This product reduces the time it takes to clear all the makeup off my skin whilst also significantly improving the appearance of my skin. I haven't found anything I like better  then this product and will probably continue to use it for a really long time

Indigo- Barry M Nail Varnish in Indigo: It is such a nice colour and like any of the other Barry M Polishes it is long lasting and applys really well. This is my go to winter colour and even tho I don't really use it in the warmer months, as I prefer brighter/lighter colours, it is one of my favourite nail polishes.

Purple- Ghost Deep Night Perfume: I am not going to say much on this perfume because I am hoping to do a blog post on it in the next few days, as it deserves on all to itself. It is a really nice smelling perfume and is not overpowering. It is a really cute looking bottle and the version I have is great for carrying around in your bag/purse.

Pink- Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Daily Scrub:  This was a hard choice as I have so many pink beauty products. However I find that finding nice beauty products is easy, but finding good products to remove the makeup and keep your skin looking good is much harder. That's why I decided to choose this scrub over one of my pink blushes/lipsticks. It is a scrub but I find that it isn't harsh on your skin, which some scrubs can be. It also smell so good, it isn't an overpowering smell but it definitely leaves your skin smelling of pink grapefruit.

I hope you enjoyed this tag- let me know in the comments if you would like to see more tags in the future.

Summer Wishlist

So I thought I would put together a list of all the things I am hoping to get this summer. I love looking at other people's lists on their blogs. It's really interesting to see the types of products and brands that people are enjoying or wanting.

I have 6 products that I am hoping to buy over the next couple of months and hopefully will use them throughout the summer.

1. Essie Nail Varnish in The More The Merrier- This is such a lovely shade of green. I'm really enjoying wearing bright colours on my nails at the minute and this lime green shade looks perfect for me. You can pick this up online here or in Boots and Superdrug stores.

2. Bourjois Cream Blush in 01 Nude Velvet- Cream Blushes are going to be huge this summer and I am really loving this coral pink blush (very good with my descriptions).

3. Bourjois So Laque Glossy Nail Enamel in 04 Amande Defile- This looks exactly like Essie Mint Candy Apple- which I love- with the added bonus that it is supposed to hold on your nails for 10 days. I can't wait to try it out!

4. Topshop Lipstick in Ohh La La - I love Topshop Lipsticks and this orangey coral lipstick will be perfect for the summer. Topshop lipsticks apply really nicely and I find are quite long lasting. Looking forward to expanding my lipstick collection.

5. Sleek Face Contour Kit- I have read so many great reviews on this product and I have wanted to try it for a long time. It comes 3 different shades but I will definitely be going for the lightest shade.

6. Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Body Wash- The Sugar Crush range from Soap and Glory is the best smelling scent in the world! I love it! This is kind of a cheat as I have already owned this product, however I had to include it on my summer wishlist as I couldn't not have it in my life during the summer!

I hope you enjoyed my Summer Wishlist.

L'Oreal Paris Studio Silk and Gloss Hot Straight Cream Review

So I am forever butchering my hair to death with straighteners and curling tongs. As my hair has started to get pretty long, I started to notice the effect it was having on my hair, especially on the ends of my hair. I have used lots of different types of hair protections creams and sprays before, but I hadn't ever tried one by L'Oreal.

The packaging is a plain pink bottle with white writing which really helped it to stand out on the shelf. I picked this one up because I use the L'Oreal volume hairspray, which I love, so I thought I would try out another one of their other products. It says on the bottle that it 'Smoothes and 48hr** Anti-Frizz' and I would definitely agree that it does that. Not only does it smooth out my hair but it also has improved the condition of my hair massively. It also smells GREAT!

I have been using this 200ml bottle for about a month now and I still haven't finished it. A little goes a long way with this product and as it was only about £4 it is a huge bargain. If you are looking for something that does what it says it does and is cheap then I would recommend this product to you.

Have you been loving any hair care products this month?
Have you tried this product and agree or disagree?

Collection Lasting Colour Gel Eyeliner Review

So recently I moved away from the Collection Extreme 24 Hour Gel Eyeliner Pen, that I have been using for probably a couple years now and I picked up the Collection Lasting Colour Gel Eyeliner. I was quite nervous about using a gel eyeliner which came in a pot, it's not something that I had ever tried before and I had heard that it was quite difficult to use. However I found this product so easy to use.

The packaging is good, it comes in a small box and has a hand tips section on the back of the box. Usually I stay clear of the hand hints on the back of products as I find them confusing to follow. However the handy tips actually came in really useful when applying the product for the first time. Inside the box you get the glass bottle with the product in and you also get a small brush to apply it with.

The product itself I love. I have the colour black of this product, although it does come in a couple more colours, and I found that it leaves a really nice solid black line which doesn't fade after a couple hours like their Extreme 24 Hour Gel Eyeliner Pen did. I found it to dry really quickly, which meant that I didn't have to worry about waiting ages before I could properly open my eyes to risk it transferring on to my eyelids. It says it last for about 12 hours, I would disagree with that but it does stay on for at least 6-8 hours. However this does mean that if you make a mistake with your line or are not happy with your cat flick, it can be hard to remove the product with out causing smudging of your other makeup.

The product does come with it's own brush. At first I was really impressed with the brush, I felt that it was applying the product well. However even with me cleaning the brush after using the product each time, the brush became hard as if there was product which had dried and hardened stuck on it and it became impossible to use.

Overall for less then £4 this is a great eyeliner that produces a really nice smooth line of colour and is long lasting. The brush is a bit of a disappointment, however I personally like to use my own brush to apply it anyway so that wouldn't but me off the product.

I will definitely be repurchasing in the future and will hopefully try some of the other colours as well. Let me know in the comments if you have tried this product or if you have tried any of the other colours.

May Beauty and Random Favourites

I didn't realise how many things I have actually been loving this month. The descriptions of the products are going to be quite short but that's only because I have quite a lot to talk about and I didn't want it to be a huge post. So please comment if you want any further reviews on any of the products mentioned. The first half of the post is going to be about beauty products and the second half my random favourites as I enjoyed doing that last month. Enjoy!
1. Garnier Summer Body- Moisturising Lotion Sun-Kissed Look: As the sun had started to come out, especially in the last couple weeks of May, I started to use this as my go to daily moisturiser. I have always really liked this product, I have never found it to go streaky or too orange. I love how it gradually builds up a natural looking tan, which isn't too heavy. The only thing that I don't like about this product is that it does have that fake tan smell, so make sure that spray some sort of nice smelling body mist before you go out. I use a soap and glory one which I really like.
2. Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Daily Scrub: I had read loads of blog posts reviewing this product and all the ones that I read seemed to love it. When I was in my local superdrug it happened to be on offer so I picked it up and I'm so glad I did. It is AMAZING!!! My skin feels so nice after having used it for the past month. It is a scrub but I find that it isn't harsh on your skin, which some scrubs can be. It also smell so good, it isn't an overpowering smell but it definitely leaves your skin smelling of pink grapefruit.
3. Sanctuary Spa Covent Garden Daily Spa Escape Mandelular Sensuous Body Souffle: This is a really nice moisturiser, especially if you get really bad dry skin. After I did my gold Duke of Edinburgh my feet have always been massively dry, I know this product probably isn't meant for your feet but I have found that it has massively improved the dryness of my feet. I also use this on my legs twice a week and they always feel super soft for days after.
4. Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in 001 Transparent: Everyone raves about this product so I probably won't say anything you haven't heard before. It says it lasts up to 5 hours, that's debatable, however the time it does last, it does an amazing job. It stops shine and I will repurchase over and over again.
5. Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer: Once again I don't think it lasts the 16 hours it claims too however it is great at covering up dark circles or any blemishes I have. It's under a £5 and I haven't found a concealer I like better. It will be my go to concealer for a long time I think.
6. Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in 100 Ivory: So I decided last month to move away from the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation and I decided to try the Match Perfection Foundation. I found that they are pretty similar, apart from I personally found that the Match Perfection gave me more coverage. Depending on my mood I pretty much have just been wearing both those foundations for the past month and unless I find another great foundation I probably will continue to for the next few months. Both a great price and under £8.
7. Rimmel London Lasting Finish Soft Colour Blush in 020 Pink Rose: I don't really like heavy blushes and this is what made me buy this one. It isn't really a bright pink, more of a slight shimmer when applied. I find that it looks a bit like highlighter when on my cheeks, which I really like. It gives you a lovely healthy glow to your face.
8. MUA Eyebrow Pencil in Blonde: This product is only a £1. That should be enough to sell it to anyone anyway but it is a really nice eyebrow pencil too. As I have red/ginger hair, I find it really difficult to find an eyebrow pencil that look natural. It is a really nice light brown pencil with slight red undertones which is why I feel it looks so natural on my eyebrows.
9. Marks and Spencers Alice and Eliza Winter Berry Lip Balm: I think this was only a product available  at Christmas. I was bought a couple of them buy some friends and they smell incredible. It is perfect for those days when you don't want to faff about with lipstick. I keep one in my makeup storage and another in my bag. Could not love with out this in my daily makeup routine.

11. My Mint Green Filofax: My best friend bought me for my 18th birthday a beautiful Filofax. I am super OCD and orgainsed and I love knowing where everything is and what I am doing everyday of the year. This was one of the best present I recieved for my birthday and I am loving using it. There is a range of style available on the Filofax website so I would reccomend that you go and have a look.

12. My Cath Kidston Make Up Bag: This was another gift which I recieved for my Birthday off my boyfriends mum. I love anything Cath Kidston and I have been enjoying taking my makeup out with me in this rally nice white makeup bag. The only thing I would say about it being white is that it does get messy inside, but I just use a makeup wipe to remove anything inside and I find that it comes straight off.

 13. Grey's Anatomy Series One: I love Grey's Anatomy and in May I decided to re-watch it from the beginning. I have now finished series one and am moving on to series two. I had forgotten how much I loved the earlier series and was so nice watching them again.
So those are all the beauty and random things I loved last month.
